Zoo Trips
We had had a great start to school this year. We are studying zoology this year and the children have really gotten into it. We just finished our study of animal jobs and prey and preditors. For both we took a trip to the Tulsa Zoo where each time we have heard different zookeepers speak, seen different animals awake/asleep and playing, and experienced a totally different trip.
The first trip we took we had just talked about jobs with animals and just went to enjoy the zoo. We ran into a booth in the elephant section talking all about their teeth adn tusks. We also got to see the penguins swimming and eating and brand new baby cubs and a baby flamingo.
The second time we went, we took our notebooks and searched for prey and preditors. The kids drew pictures of the animals that went in each catagory. We also spent a great deal of time in the petting zoo where our little sissy found "Bubba." (Our dog's name is bubba and he has a sheepish look to him, she saw the sheep and yelled "bubba!")We had a bunch of other laughs that day, including Alex dudging a butterfly and stating that "One can never be too careful." HAHAHAHA And then later him running into a peahen. Not sure if her scared her or if she scared him but they both screamed. It was a great time!
