Zoo Trips

We had had a great start to school this year. We are studying zoology this year and the children have really gotten into it. We just finished our study of animal jobs and prey and preditors. For both we took a trip to the Tulsa Zoo where each time we have heard different zookeepers speak, seen different animals awake/asleep and playing, and experienced a totally different trip. The first trip we took we had just talked about jobs with animals and just went to enjoy the zoo. We ran into a booth in the elephant section talking all about their teeth adn tusks. We also got to see the penguins swimming and eating and brand new baby cubs and a baby flamingo.
The second time we went, we took our notebooks and searched for prey and preditors. The kids drew pictures of the animals that went in each catagory. We also spent a great deal of time in the petting zoo where our little sissy found "Bubba." (Our dog's name is bubba and he has a sheepish look to him, she saw the sheep and yelled "bubba!")We had a bunch of other laughs that day, including Alex dudging a butterfly and stating that "One can never be too careful." HAHAHAHA And then later him running into a peahen. Not sure if her scared her or if she scared him but they both screamed. It was a great time!

1st couple of days were a sucess!

We started school yesterday! Holy Potatoes!!!!! I have a 7th grader, 6th grader, 5th grader, and 2 in the playpen grade. Both yesterday adn today were great. Got tons done and had good attitudes throughout school. Today got cut a little short as we took an unexpected trip to Tulsa to pick up the kid's glasses. They were due to come in Friday or Saturday, but we are so thankful to take an early day to go get them today. Finally a night where Mel can go to sleep headache free. Praise Jesus!!!!! Shay is now 1 week bottle free and that is great for our little toddler. She has actaully been sleeping though the night too, which is great for momma. Here are some shots from yesterday and today that I caught on my phone. I will be editing the pics from the camera tonight and the kids school pics as well.

We made it through another year of school in the Rouge House! At the end of the year we did a BBQ and Promotion day with the children. My mom, Nana, Aunt Lisa, Lindsay, Shelby and our friend Jeremy came over to celebrate the end of the year with us. The kids sang the books of the bible, did book reports and told their fave bible stories. Then they were promoted to the next level.

Alex will be entering the 6th grade.

Tylor will be entering the 5th grade.

Melodey will be entering the 4th grade.
